After the womens 4x400m relay team won bronze, britain ended their Planet campaign with six awards.
The quartet of Zoey Clark, Jodie Williams, Emily Diamond and Laviai Nielsen finished fourth at the final but were moved up to third party after Jamaicas disqualification.
The mens team failed to complete their race following a changeover mistake between Rabah Yousif and Toby Harries.
The race was won by the USA as they finished top of the buffet table with 14 golds.
We conducted off our socks now, each one of us Diamond told BBC Sport. We wanted that medal so, so poorly.
Thats the fastest we have run in many years, it surpasses the Olympics, and that I think we could be pleased with ourselves.
The choice to penalise Jamaica for an issue over placement was welcome news for Britain, who have been put to get their medal total that is lowest since the three won at Helsinki 2005.
Golds for Dina-Asher Smith in the 200m and Katarina Johnson-Thompson from the heptathlon meant Britain finished sixth in the desk and then matched their tally.
