Eden Hazard admits he’s discovered that Real Madrid fans are far more spent than supporters.
The 28-year-old Belgium moved from Chelsea to Real for a documented #130m at the summertime following seven years in Stamford Bridge.
“I think here the fans are really lovers,” stated Hazard, before Wednesday’s Champions League group match against Paris Saint-Germain.
“In England there aren’t so many fans, folks there like football and everybody, young people, adults, teens, are really interested in their soccer, but they are not as fanatical about their own groups.
“In the time that I was in Chelsea and we dropped, we were disappointed as were the lovers, but I never felt it was a disaster.
“When you are at Real Madrid, even if it is my first year, speaking to the fans, they always expect you to win the Champions League,” he continued.
“That is why I think there is so much anticipation placed with this competition and that’s why the club has made it over any other team.”
Hazard waited for a move away from Chelsea – that he said it might be time for you to move on following the 2018 World Cup – but that did not stop him talking of his desire while a Blue to play Real.
“When I was at Chelsea, I already knew my dream was to play for [Real Madrid] someday,” he explained.
“I hadn’t expected to play seven years at Chelsea, but in the end everything went well and I’d the opportunity to win something every year. I think that is why I remained there as long.”
