Eden Hazard admits he’s noticed that Real Madrid fans are far more invested at his club Chelsea than supporters.
The Belgium moved to Real for a documented from Chelsea #130m in the summer after seven years at Stamford Bridge.
“I think here the lovers are really fans,” stated Hazard, before Wednesday’s Champions League group match against Paris Saint-Germain.
“In England there aren’t so many lovers, people there like football and everyone, young men and women, adults, teenagers, are really interested in their football, but they are not so fanatical about their teams.
“At the time that I was in Chelsea and we lost, we were disappointed as were the fans, but I felt it was a disaster.
“When you’re at Real Madrid, even if it is my very first year, speaking about the fans, they always expect you to win the Champions League,” he continued.
“This is the reason why I think there is so much anticipation placed with this competition and that’s the reason why the club has won it over any other group.”
Hazard waited for a movement away from Chelsea – he said it would be time – but that did not stop him speaking of his desire while a Blue to play for Real.
“When I had been at Chelsea, I knew that my dream was to play for [Real Madrid] someday,” he explained.
“I had not expected to play seven years at Chelsea, but in the long run everything went well and I’d the occasion to win something each year. I think that is why I stayed there as long.”
