Liverpool warn supporters in Naples to be ‘vigilant’ over fears of violence from Napoli fans

Prevent wearing club colours over fears to their security and liverpool have warned their supporters in Naples to remain inside their resorts.
Ahead of the opening Group E clash with Napoli on Tuesday, the Reds issued advice simply to go to the scene on designated buses and to”remain vigilant” in areas away from the town’s port more than fears of violence out of rival supporters.
Many Liverpool fans were treated for stab wounds when they last visited the city throughout the 2010-11 Champions League campaignwhen reports described Reds fans as being”hunted” by Napoli ultras.
Even the Premier League club have advised travelling supporters that”prior to match-day, (they) ought to stay within their respective resorts to drink and eat” and”shouldn’t congregate (on bulk ) in public places and should avoid getting isolated”.
They also said:”Supporters are suggested not to wear club colors from the vent area (also ) any fans wanting to go to the interior areas of Naples city ought to remain vigilant and be aware they could be targeted for petty theft, robbery and assault.”
Supporters should also”not make their own approach to the stadium because of threats to their personal security. This is important even if your resort is close to the scene”.
Liverpool fans are told to congregate no later than 15:30 at the Naples Marine Terminal for shuttle buses into the scene, the final leaving no later than 18:30, and they’ll be hauled back inside the San Paolo Stadium for at least one hour after the full-time whistle.
