Their unbeaten run improved in Sky Bet League Two to three games with a victory over 10-man Northampton.
The Iron did the damage in the first half, together with three of the goals coming within the opening 31 seconds.
Lee Novak fired them ahead in the 12th minute, beating the offside trap to bring down a smart pass from Ryan Colclough and flick it past onrushing goalkeeper David Cornell.
After a Kevin Van Veen header had been retained out by Cornell, two minutes after, the Iron striker netted his second, now pouncing from close range.
Sam Hoskins shot extensive through a rare sight until van Veen – against his former club – curled a terrific strike to wrap up victory for the hosts.
Northampton enhanced after the break, but any hopes they had back into the game vanished for catching Scunthorpe goalkeeper Rory Watson in the face with his boot when striker Vadaine Oliver was sent off.
A bloodied Watson was forced off, but the Iron continued to dominate – with the crossbar denying Novak on and just a combination of Cornell.
