After the womens 4x400m relay team won bronze britain finished their Planet campaign.
Emily Diamond, Jodie Williams, Zoey Clark and Laviai Nielsens quartet finished fourth in the final but have been moved up to third following the disqualification of Jamaica.
The mens team failed to complete their race following a changeover mistake between Toby Harries and Rabah Yousif.
The race was won by the USA since they finished high in the medal table with 14 golds.
We conducted off our socks now, every single one of us, Diamond told BBC Sport. We desired that medal so, so poorly.
That is the fastest we have run in several years, it surpasses the Olympics, and that I believe we could be proud of ourselves.
The decision to penalise Jamaica to a problem over positioning in the changeover region was welcome news since the three won in Helsinki 2005 for Britain, who were put to get their prize total that is lowest.
